Nuclear plant workers film Star Trek spoof inside training simulator

The staff of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) seems to be in trouble after a Star Trek spoof made in 2010 in the plant’s training simulator was leaked. "SONGS Trek," as it’s called, doesn’t seem to be work-related, but it also doesn’t appear to have put the plant in any danger.

EXCLUSIVE: Orci Opens Up About Star Trek Into Darkness, Part 1

StarTrek.com ran an interview with Star Trek Into Darkness co-writers and co-producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman a couple of weeks before the film opened, but when we got a chance to speak with Orci again after we saw the film, but still before it opened to the public, we decided to take advantage of the opportunity. Somewhere in the middle of this second, and solo, conversation with Orci, it was agreed that we’d touch on some spoilers and hold the interview until after the film debuted. Well, the film is in theaters and now is the time to run the story, spoilers and all. Below is part one, and check back at StarTrek.com again tomorrow for part two.

The Beer of Thrones is not safe for pregnant women, Dothraki, anybody

Comediva cooked up a little commercial for the Beer of Thrones, a no-doubt hearty ale which has some unfortunate side effects for those who drink it… and those who happen to be standing nearby those who drink it. Frankly, I think everybody should consider themselves lucky no one ended up channeling Theon’s new buddy.

Abrams Unveils Cumberbatch Shower Scene On Conan

J.J. Abrams appeared on Conan last night to promote Star Trek Into Darkness and during the conversation host Conan O’Brien asked Abrams about the controversy surrounding the shot of Alice Eve as Carol Marcus in her underwear. Abrams explained that A) it balanced the bed scene with a shirtless Kirk; B) it was meant to play up Kirk’s womanizing ways, in that he couldn’t help but peek as Marcus changed; and C) he “didn’t quite edit the scene in the right way.” Abrams then went on to confirm something Eve told StarTrek.com a few weeks ago, which was that Abrams shot a scene with Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan taking a shower. The director went on to show a clip of that sequence, with O’Brien then putting a very funny Conan-esque spin on it.

Concept art from the J.J. Abrams Superman movie that never was

Holy cow, the J.J. Abrams-produced Superman: Flyby is certainly shiny. Just think of all the lens flare you could get off all that alien chrome. Back in 2003, Abrams wanted to make a Superman movie and this is what it would have looked like.

The movie Superman: Flyby hired concept artist Phil Saunders to create the famous pod design that Kal-El would ride to Earth. And he also created the Rouser the giant machine Superman would have to fight (piloted by his cousin Kata-Zor). The movie was supposed to be directed by Brett Ratner or McG, but obviously that didn’t end up happening. But here’s a look at what could have been!

Benedict Cumberbatch showers in deleted Trek Into Darkness scene

Those who feel that Alice Eve’s underwear scene in Star Trek Into Darkness was gratuitous, this might make you feel better — director J.J. Abrams debuted a deleted, but equally gratuitous scene from the film of Benedict Cumberbatch showering on Conan last night. Of course, this was deleted and Eve’s disrobing stayed in, so your mileage may vary.

On the other hand, it is BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH NAKED NUDE SHERLOCK SHOWER SCENE, so score a point for the ol’ SEO.
